Stone Temple Pilots, the American grunge group, is based in 1986. Structure: Scott Weiland, on October, 28th 1967, Santa Cruise, California) (vocal), Robert DeLeo (on February, 2nd 1966) (bass guitar), Dean DeLeo (on August, 21st 1961) (guitar), Eric Kretz, (on June, 7th 1966) (shock).

Scott Weiland and Robert De Leo have got acquainted in Southern California at group Black Flag concert, and, on the basis of the general musical interests, have solved to cooperate in a creative tandem. Were called Swing and began to register at Robert's house studio. In one of clubs of San Diego, friends have found to themselves of the drummer: it acted there with any command and has made impression that drummed so loudly that wasn't audible the vocalist. As a result Eric Karts (so called assiduous "informer") became the third participant of group. The vacant place of the leader-guitarist was occupied with Robert's brother - the Dynes, the updated collective has thought up to itself the new name - Mighty Joe Young and in 1991 has started to rehearse. In April 1992 musicians have signed the contract with Àtlantic Records and were again renamed, as was found out that group Mighty Joe Young already exists. This time, as the name the logo of oil company STP which have been sprained an arm to which have thought up suitable decoding has been taken. So have appeared Stone Temple Pilots. By September 1992 the debut album «Core» which critics accused of secondariness and imitation Pearl Jam was ready. However the album was bought up not bad, and MTV has invited debutants for record Unplugged’à, and subsequently recognized Stone Temple Pilots as the best alternative group. Hide review
