Sources Motorhead go back to rather ''comely'' progressive group Hawkwind where Jan ''Lemmi'' Kilmister has got after numerous prehistoric experiences, including game in scandalous Manchester command Rocking Vickers and work as the guitar technician at most Jimi Hendrix. In Hawkwind the former guitarist Kilmister was switched to a bass and quickly became frontman. Somehow during round of Lemmi tried to spend narcocontaining substance through the American-Canadian border, for what has been arrested and planted. Jealous veterans Hawkwind who didn't like for a long time already the upstart-bass player have used this occasion, and Lemmi has been dismissed.
Not broken Lemmi has collected the structure in 1975, naming it Motorhead. Originally the future collective Lemmi wanted to name Bastard, but the manager of the musician has insisted on name change. Motorhead is a composition of Lemmi with the same name for Hawkwind (on the American slang means «a fast high»). The contract with label United Artists hasn't brought anything, except problems: the firm in any way didn't wish to let out already written down to the beginning of 1976 a material. In this time the structure already has had time to exchange: the place of the drummer was occupied with Fil «Filthy Animal» Taylor, Uellisa were replaced by guitarist Eddi «Fast» Clark. Firm Chiswick Records, seeing group misadventures, has suggested them to let out a single and has given studio for two days during which Motorhead in an inspiration impulse have written down all material of an album! Album Motorhead left in 1977 and at once has attracted attention. Seeing success of a command, Chiswick Records in 1979 has published a material available for it, naming album On Parole.
